After the news came out that Theo Epstein was resigning his position as President of Baseball Operations after nine incredible years with the Chicago Cubs, we at the Northside Show decided that it was only fitting to create a special podcast. To many it may seemingly go without saying that Epstein changed these lovable losers into champions, but in our culture that seems to adore recency bias, it can be easy to forget all that Theo has done for this franchise.

In this weeks episode, Northside Show host Benjamin J. Denen was joined by special guest, Randall J. Sanders. We remembered trades and signings that elevated the franchise as well as the few that didn’t work out. Most of all, we discussed what Theo Epstein has meant to Chicago Cubs fans.

We also talked about Randall’s project he has going that encourages people to donate to their local food banks. You can find more details in the tweet below.

Benjamin was born in Rockford, Illinois. He is a father, a husband, a son, a brother, a friend, an author, a musician, a speaker, a son of God, a lover of all things Chicago sports, a pizza consumption virtuoso, an intellectual, and a self-proclaimed comedian (yet to be confirmed). All of these things, simple as they may be, make up the person that he has grown to be. He graduated from Belmont University in Nashville with a degree in Commercial Music. After touring the world as a professional musician, Benjamin decided it was time to focus on on composing music for film/tv and truly diving into writing. The Keeper of Edelyndia is Benjamin's first novel, but he now has three (almost five) completed and is looking forward to releasing those soon as well. In addition to being a novelist, he has a handful of non-fiction books in the works and contributes to youth ministry blogs, as well as his own.
