White Sox: Battle of the MVP’s Kicks off Sunday Night Baseball in 2021

ESPN to feature the White Sox twice during the first week of the 2021 MLB season.

Remember when Tim Anderson poked fun at ESPN’s tendency to completely forget about the existence of the Chicago White Sox during a rare White Sox broadcast this past season?

Well, it seems that ESPN now remembers who the White Sox are. Not only is the team returning to ESPN’s local all-sports radio station WMVP – ESPN 1000 as their flagship radio home in 2021, the White Sox will be featured on their national broadcast twice in the first week of the 2021 MLB season.

ESPN will kick off their Sunday Night Baseball schedule in 2021 with a battle of the reigning American League MVP, Jose Abreu, and the 2019 American League MVP, Mike Trout when the White Sox visit the Angels on April 4, 2021.

The White Sox-Angels Sunday Night Baseball broadcast is tentatively slated for the 7:30 pm (CT) window on ESPN. No broadcast team has been announced by ESPN yet.

The very next night, the White Sox are back on ESPN when they open their series with the Seattle Mariners at T-Mobile Park.

The meeting between the White Sox and Mariners will be a battle of the 2020 American League Rookie of the Year, Kyle Lewis, and the runner-up, Luis Robert.

As of now, first pitch is set for 9:00 pm (CT) on April 5, 2021.

On the strength of their first playoff appearance since 2008 and a slew of awards taken home by White Sox players, it seems like the Southside is finally getting its rightful share of national love in 2021.
